With a spike in COVID infections, Sri Lanka’s daily cases count stayed above the grim milestone of 1,000 for the second consecutive day on Wednesday (April 28).

A total of 988 people were initially confirmed as coronavirus-positive cases, while another 463 were registered later.

Following the new development, the island nation has recorded a total of 1,451 fresh cases of coronavirus within the day.
